As one of our Centre Managers, Angela Benness, moved up into her role in the Quality Team, we were excited to promote another Affinity-ite!
Darren Halim has been part of the聽Affinity family since starting as causal educator and聽has proudly progressed his early childhood education career through 黑料专区. He will now be taking on聽the聽Centre Manager role at Papilio Early Learning聽Camberwell聽and is聽well equipped for the role after having experience as Assistant Centre Manager at聽Papillo Early Learning聽Ashburton.
Hi Darren! What聽goals did you set for yourself聽when you started your聽career聽in the Early Childhood Education Industry?聽聽
I have always loved working with children and聽being聽part聽of their development and learning. Being able to see their growth in聽character day by day through educator's guidance,聽love and support聽has been an incredibly rewarding experience. I聽have completed a聽Bachelor of Commerce and once I graduated, I jumped聽straight聽into my education degree and started my journey in Early Childhood Education.
My main goal has always been to go聽above and beyond聽in my job responsibilities and duties - ensuring the needs of the families, children and parents are met聽with聽outstanding professionalism.
What challenges did you face聽and how did you聽overcome聽them?聽
Stepping up previously as聽Assistant聽Centre聽Manager聽from my聽position as an Early Childhood聽Teacher聽was a huge transition for me,聽as my聽focus聽had to shift聽from聽just聽one room聽to聽the entire聽centre.
But聽with the support of my聽manager聽at Papilio Ashburton, Danielle Gatt聽I was able to rise to the challenge!聽She is such an amazing Centre Manager聽and has been the perfect role model 鈥� she is聽so supportive and full of love聽for her team and the children in her care.聽The network of support聽we receive from Affinity聽Education聽as well as the聽structure聽and guidance聽provided聽has聽also聽given me the confidence to step up into my new role.
What do you love the most about your job?聽聽
A bit of everything actually! I love seeing team members being empowered and implementing learning activities with the children. I love seeing the children running in happy into the聽centre聽ready for the day, the cuddles they聽give and the stories they tell us.
I am always striving to always develop and sharpen my skills as an educator,聽teacher,聽and manager聽so I聽can鈥檛聽wait to begin helping help everyone from families,聽staff,聽and the children in my new role.
