Governments continue to recognise early childhood care as crucial to the recovery of Australia鈥檚 post-Covid-19 recession. Over the next five years, the industry is expected to see robust growth.
- Early childhood (pre-primary school) teacher job roles will experience the largest relative growth in the sector, growing by 22% or reaching 9,000 jobs by 2023.
- In absolute terms, child carers are expected to experience the largest surge in jobs, with a forecast of 27,600 jobs growth by 2023.
- Overall, the number of people working in the area is expected to swell to 49,100 by 2024, from 42,300 in 2019.
